Who is Hilma AI Klint? Maybe you haven’t heard of her yet, but you certainly will as her art is rewriting art history. We embody the work of one of the most bad af artists to ever be discovered post mortem after living a life of creative secrecy.

Before the world was stormed by digital art, AI art, and non fungible nonsense, a century ago abstractionism was beginning. The idea that art didn’t have to be “real” and an accurate portrayal of everything around us or in the past. Art could be about concepts, and shapes and geometries and colors could represent things not as they were - but as they could be - or what they might be. A painting of what’s in our minds as opposed to what’s in our eye sight.
In 1986 Hilmas abstract paintings were displayed for the first time - 40 years after she died and nearly 80 years after some of them were painted - making her one of the earliest if not the earliest abstract artists in history. Literally rewriting art history. Now that’s bad af.
